M. Scott Peck (1936-2005)

"I find it hard not to write about God" said the late psychotherapist Scott Peck whose "Road Less Travelled" took the public by storm in 1979 at the end of a despairing lugubrious decade when he was able to call for traditional values without sounding "preachy."

Scott's blend of Jungian psychology and Eastern mysticism largely obscured the fact that here was a serious Episcopalian and a man who turned over his papers to Fuller Theological Seminary for safe-keeping.

He set a fine example of being a crossover figure – one who could write powerfully to the secular culture as well as share insights Christians could benefit from. Glendora pastor Neil Earle shared a phone interview with him in 2000 that confirmed Scotty's robust enthusiasm for life and for traditional vales. He is missed.
