Daily Bread in Space

Astronaut Rex Walheim, USAF Colonel (retired), was a veteran of many space flights aboard the shuttle Atlantis. The last trip to the International Space Station logged 5.2 million miles and completed 200 earth orbits.

In a month that saw the death of Neil Armstrong we are right to commemorate how NASA pioneers such as Armstrong made space travel more or less routine. Not much room for reading matter in a shuttle so it was pertinent to learn that Walheim had packed aboard a copy of "Our Daily Bread" for STS-135 (Atlantis).

This is the free of charge and popular handbook of daily devotionals put out by RBC Ministries of Grand Rapids, Michigan that have inspired many of us "here below," a phrase that takes on new meaning after Walheim's study habits became known.
