Amigos Sin Frontera update at Glendora church

By Neil Earle

On August 26, 2011 our Glendora congregation heard once again from Mr. Raul G. Sifuentes, a member of GCI since the mid-1980s. Raul and his wife come visiting back here in Southern California very often from their home in Houston, Texas. They began attending here in Glendora in 1983.

These past several years he has been serving with a missionary team named Amigos Sin Frontera. August 26 he reported on ASF’s most recent trip to Mexico in February, 2011. The group, which includes, doctors, dentists, optometrists and other professionals, went to a remote village in Guerrero and there distributed 162 sacks of clothing, toys, shoes and food. The village usually has no medical services available, and the team gave medical treatment to more than 700 people, including performing 75 surgeries. More than 500 people received dental services and 180 were fitted for eyeglasses.

Amigos Sin Frontera missionaries always seek to share the gospel as they do good works. On this last trip, 637 persons were converted to Christ, and many Bibles and pieces of Christian literature were distributed.

Here is their Mission Statement from their brochure:

“Our mission is to deliver medical, dental and social services (aid) to the most remote, under-privileged and needy indigenous communities in the mountainous regions throughout the Republic of Mexico, with the sole purpose of endowing and giving them eternal values, so that these indigenous people, in turn, will reflect love for themselves, their families, and their communities to raise their standard of living.”

Another quote from the brochure:

“Since 1966, Amigos Sin Frontera, A.C. missionary team have reached many of these forgotten communities, in many different states, to deliver the assistance so greatly needed: medical, dental and optical services, food supplies, donated clothing and toys…The missionary team has provided these communities with a wide variety of Christian ministries via movies, videos, DVDs, counseling, Bibles and literature. Hundreds, if not thousands of the indigenous peoples have received physical (dental, optical and whole-body) mental, social (material) and spiritual healing on each and every missionary trip to the region.”

ASF's next trip will be November 11-18, 2011, and will go to a remote village in Michoacan State.

One outstanding thing about Mr. Sifuentes is how much he asks for prayers before he indicates any financial needs. "Yes, of course we like your support, but most of all we need your prayers," he said this time. "This is a man who radiates humility and sincerity if there can be such a thing," said Senior Pastor Neil Earle."It is truly a privilege to support such a worthy cause."
